Who are the crewmembers ? Baltimore _should_ probably take over as the CO/XO after an attack on the SEAQUEST by temporal pirates - the rest of the crew would be a mix of real and fictional. CO XO ENGINEER WEAPONS COMMS SENSORS HELM SCIENCE Those are the position that I imagine you'd need.

In which case, what roles will the time travellers, incognito, assume on seaQuest? And an alliance against a convenient attacker seems somewhat cliched, not to mention non sequitur. Shouldn't the motives of the time travelers and problems in their rescue mission to the Titanic drive the story? While the question of which characters, new or canonical, will comprise the crew of seaQuest seems like the most obvious question, it is one that probably ought to remain flexible, until the needs of the story become clear. Likewise questions of continuity with seaQuest. While bridge positions and chain of command are really the most trivial detail of the sort that are made fundamental in playing Fantasy Role Playing Games, but not to writing good fiction. And even in Role playing, what will will sustain interesting character interaction is prior relationships, not Navy lingo. To put it another way, what difference does does filling bridge positions and chain of command make, at this point? Tell me that, and then we might even have choices upon which a story plot might pivot. Frankly, I do not see these choices as a real starting point for story crafting. But, by all means, do prove me wrong. In particular, we should be thinking of dramatic conflict. For example, between Bridger and Hudson, who are motivated to different and even opposing priorities. That will help build tension, as Bridger will naturally be drawn in by curiosity and compassion, while Hudson will tend to be increasingly suspicious, putting security concerns first. And there will be an element of mystery. Which of them is right? But we still need more in the story line for them to respond to. At some point, the infiltration must come to light, for example. Probably right when seaQuest is in the thick of the time travel adventure to the Titanic. And it is in some specifics of that situation, the Titanic disaster and how it will present time travel rescue challenges and difficulties (both anticipated and unanticipated), that one might expect to be primary to a problem oriented plot.

Let's say we have a new male CO, somewhat more like Hudson than Bridger, call him CAPTAIN HERCULE RENOD. Commander Louise Baltimore would be his XO and, would be undercover so we wouldn't have to deal with her appointing during the pilot movie - is this a series of a tv movie ? - ! Imagine this, the SQ is investigating a rift in the Atlantic and is pulled through. The rift didn't appear until SQ had entered the sector and ... well, it turns out that the SQ itself created the rift ( the Scientist would figure this out ) and the controls and direction to do this came from Baltimore's console. Thus, Baltimore is exposed, but how much does she reveal and to whom does she reveal it ?

And needless, given the established capabilities of the time travelers, and the challenges they face concealing themselves from history, which is an important source of dramatic tension. <Let's say we have a new male CO, somewhat more like Hudson than Bridger, call him CAPTAIN HERCULE RENOD.> Why?? Look, the whole idea of having a power struggle between Hudson and Bridger, is for the drama and to build suspense: Every time that Bridger will want to advance the plot, Hudson must obstruct or discourages Bridger. But every time that Bridger is allowed go ahead, the audience appreciates that Hudson might be right, and that there may be dire consequences! Hudson and Bridger, then will have really good personal and practical reasons to oppose one another, not just shallow bickering. And that is the sort of thing that will provide dramatic conflict, essential to compelling fiction. And that's what characterization is all about, not chain of command and bridge positions! <Commander Louise Baltimore would be his XO> Not very subtitle, as infiltration goes. <and, would be undercover so we wouldn't have to deal with her appointing> The seaQuest-Titanic mission is longer and more involved than the average time travel rescue mission, and so, entirely fabricated identities, commissions, transfer orders and all, may be simpler to maintain than the usual kidnap, substitutions and masquerades. Although, new complications would be entailed. Think in terms of mystery writing. There are better ways for Louise Baltimore to give herself away, gradually, without rank incompetence, and only by the time seaQuest is as inextricably involved as possible. What disclosures and to whom Louise Baltimore make? -You ask, that english guy. But, thus far, what have we come up with at all for Louise Baltimore to reveal or not? All of which still leaves the single greatest need, story writing challenge and gap in the premise, namely A TIME TRAVEL PLOT LINE ABOUT RESCUING PEOPLE FROM THE TITANIC DISASTER. Everything else might even fall into place after that. Not to mention, why they even need seaQuest. Also, the problem of how to conceal both the Titanic rescue and the extraction of seaQuest for the job, from history. So, how are the time travelers planning to rescue the crew and passengers of the Titanic? And what will go wrong?
